Information Technology

The Bay County Sheriff's Office Information / Technology staff provides technical support to both the agency and other public safety entities. This section is responsible for all aspects of the day to day operations of the agency's computer network, security, and the interfaces with local, state and national networks. Part of the day to day maintenance includes:

 

1) A large network of IP cameras that monitor the main office, the jail facility and the courthouse

2) 500 plus desktop / laptop computers and users

3) FCIC / NCIC training and testing

4) Network security and monitoring

5) Fiber, Cable and Switch maintenance

6) Server maintenance

 

The Information Technology Section has a network manager, four field technicians and two software programmers. The Bay County Sheriffs Office has for many years designed and created it's own law enforcement management software, saving the Bay County Sheriff's Office hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Records Section

The Bay County Sheriff's Office Records Section is supervised by Beth Nelson, a 15 year employee with the Bay County Sheriffs Office.
 

This section is responsible for the day to day processing of all reports. This section is also responsible for the dissemination of report requests from other law enforcement agencies, prosecutors and the public. Records embarked on a mission to digitize all records in 2005. To date, they have converted over 1,903,460 pages of paper to a digitized format.

The three employees assigned to this unit handle this continuing task along with hundreds of records request daily. In addition, requests for local background checks are handled by this section as well as judicial orders for the sealing and expungement of records.

Suport Services Division

The Support Services Division is commanded by Lt. John Corley, a thirty year Law Enforcement veteran.  Prior to joining the Bay County Sheriff's Office, Lt. Corley worked for the Callaway Police Department.  During his time with the Sheriff's Office, he has worked as a Patrol Deputy, Narcotics Investigator, Evidence Supervisor and Support Services.

The Support Services Division includes the Records Section, Sex Offender Registration, and Tracking Unit, Registered Felon Unit, Gang Intelligence, Crime Analysis and Information Systems.

In addition, the Support Services Division oversees both public and felon fingerprinting duties, switchboard operations and provides staff assistance.  The Support Services Division also provides logistical oversight and support during a disaster, natural or man made.  Please take a few minutes to learn the things your Bay County Support Services Division is accomplishing as well as your Sheriff's Office.
