The BCSO Youth Academy was established in an effort to create an outreach program for Bay County’s youth.  It is comprised of middle and high school students ages 12-17.  The purpose of the summer youth academy is to afford the students an opportunity to interact one on one with our deputies and form meaningful, lasting and positive bonds with law enforcement.

Each summer the Sheriff’s Office hosts multiple week-long sessions of the Youth Academy in which the youth are mentored by our very own School Resource Deputies (SRDs).  The SRD’s also oversee and operate the academy.  All events and activities during the course of the week are provided at no cost to the students.  Additionally, all drinks, meals, snacks and transportation will be provided by the Sheriff’s Office at no cost to the youth or tax payers of Bay County.

The Bay County Sheriff’s Office Youth Academy meets at the Junior Deputies building located in the rear parking lot of the Sheriff’s Office.  The location provides an excellent escape from everyday pressures and outside influences.  From there the students attend the various excursions and events that are scheduled for the day.  Some of the activities that are scheduled include fishing, hiking, presentations by FWC, EMS and Bay County Fire Department.  There will also be live demonstrations of the various facets of the Sheriff’s Office and law enforcement operations.
