The Bay County Sheriff’s Office responded to Mosley High School this morning in reference to an alleged bomb threat made by a student.
Deputies
responded to the school, which was evacuated. Also called to the scene was a
member of the BCSO Bomb Squad with the explosive detection dog and a sweep of
the area was conducted. The dog did not alert.
Deputies
spoke with witnesses and identified Caden Burse as the suspect. Witnesses
stated they heard Caden Burse, age 17, make a statement in 2nd
period class he had put a bomb in the school library and it was going to
explode at 2:15 PM. Burse was also heard making similar statements in the halls
of the school.
Contact
was made with Caden Burse, who admitted he made the statements about the bomb
in the library, but it was just a joke. Once it was determined there was no
explosive device, students were brought back into the school. Burse was
arrested and charged with Filing a False Report of a Bomb, a felony.
