MAN ARRESTED FOR ROBBERY AFTER FLEEING

July
29, 2019

The Bay County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of Brad Curtis Phillips on Saturday, July 27, 2018, on robbery charges.

The
BCSO received a 911 call at about 11 am Saturday, July 27, when a bystander observed
a man get out of the passenger side of a Dodge truck in the parking lot of a
gas station at 2708 E. 15th Street. The man went over to a Ford truck, opened the driver’s door, and grabbed the driver, a woman, out of the Ford. The man then jumped into the Ford and began to beat a man sitting inside the Ford in the passenger seat.

The
woman, later identified as Breena Bonifay, stood a moment and then went over to
the Dodge truck and got into it.

The
passenger in the Ford managed to get his door open and jumped out of the Ford.
At that time the man who had been beating on him got back into the Dodge and it
was driven away. The man was identified as Brad Curtis Phillips, from Liberty
County, Florida.

Deputies
arrived and called BCSO Criminal Investigations to the scene. The victim stated
that Phillips had taken his cell phone. The victim complained of pain in his
left arm, wrist, and back of his head. He had red marks on his face, shoulder,
arm, and chest. EMS responded, the victim was helped at the scene but refused
to go to a hospital.

Investigators, working with Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, tracked Phillips down in Liberty County and interviewed him. He stated he had taken the victim’s cell phone so the victim couldn’t call 911 for help, and had beaten him. He was arrested and charged with Robbery and Victim Tampering.

Today,
investigators identified the man driving the Dodge truck that Phillips was in
as Michael Delage. Delage was arrested after he fled on foot from law
enforcement. He was quickly located in a nearby wooded area and charged with
Accessory to Robbery and Accessory to Victim Tampering.
