OFFENSIVE LANGUAGE NO CRIME

August
7, 2019

The Bay County Sheriff’s Office was made aware of a video today that had been posted on social media by a local student. The video contained racially offensive language and statements that caused concern.

BCSO
Criminal Investigations immediately conducted an investigation into the video.
Contact has been made with the person who created the video and his parents.

After
conducting the investigation, it has been concluded that, in spite of the
deeply offensive comments made by the person in the video, no crime has been
committed. During the video, statements made were found to be in reference to
acts the person would take within their home, if necessary, to protect their
home.

BCSO
investigators have notified authorities at Bay District Schools of the outcome
of the investigation.

Sheriff
Tommy Ford wants the public to know that with the start of the new school year,
extra BCSO personnel will be on school campuses next week to ensure the safety
of children and school employees.
