The Bay County Sheriff’s Office was called to a self-storage unit on Sherman Avenue on July 16, 2019 in reference to a burglary.
Deputies arrived and met with Mike Jones, known locally as Salvage Santa because of the bicycles he gives away during the Christmas holidays. Jones reported that one of his storage units had been broken into and about 26 Kent 18” boy’s bicycles, still in boxes and valued at about $100 each, had been stolen. Also missing were assorted footballs, soccer balls, and basketballs valued at about $250.00 and 12 pairs of size 8 tennis shoes valued at about $120.00.
BCSO
Criminal Investigations is working the case and today released pictures of a
bike similar to the ones stolen. Anyone with information about the theft of
these bikes and other items is asked to contact Inv. Brent Roberts at 248-2319.
A $500 reward is being offered for any tip through Crime Stoppers (785-TIPS)
that leads to an arrest.
