The Bay County Sheriff's Office Information / Technology staff provides technical support to both the agency and other public safety entities. This section is responsible for all aspects of the day to day operations of the agency's computer network, security, and the interfaces with local, state and national networks. Part of the day to day maintenance includes:
1) A large network of IP cameras that monitor the main office, the jail facility and the courthouse
2) 500 plus desktop / laptop computers and users
3) FCIC / NCIC training and testing
4) Network security and monitoring
5) Fiber, Cable and Switch maintenance
6) Server maintenance
The Information Technology Section has a network manager, four field technicians and two software programmers. The Bay County Sheriffs Office has for many years designed and created it's own law enforcement management software, saving the Bay County Sheriff's Office hundreds of thousands of dollars.
